A Christmas Holiday with a French Twist

Monday, December 14th, 2009

What is it about the French? The food is sumptuous, the women are elegant, the men romantic. It’s no wonder Americans crave a little French influence in our lives from time to time.

Let your time be now. We offer a French Colonial Christmas package at our St. Charles historic inn that will add touch of elegance and romance to your holidays.

St. Charles is particularly lovely at this time of year: the streets aglow with sparkling lights, the songs of carolers drifting on the breeze. That alone is enough to put visitors and locals in a cheerful mood.

During your stay in the French Colonial room of our St. Charles MO bed and breakfast you will be treated to French wine, a selection of fine cheeses accompanied with crusty French bread, and tasty French chocolates. Eventually you will leave your room in order to browse the many fine shops of downtown St. Charles, or enjoy a pre-arranged carriage ride; but once you return, you can look forward to sinking into a steaming bath filled with fragrant French bath salts.

In the morning, you will feel that you are in an elegant Parisian hotel as you enjoy a selection of French pastries and strong coffee in your room.

Treat yourselves to a French Christmas this year, without boarding a plane.

Our historic St. Charles MO bed and breakfast is just a short drive from St. Louis. This means our guests benefit from the all the amenities of the larger city while relaxing in the charming historic town of St. Charles. Our historic Missouri inn is peaceful at night, recalling the best of yesteryear. In the morning, we will feed you a generous breakfast and ply you full of tea freshly brewed coffee; you will certainly not lack fuel as you head out to explore neighboring St. Louis.

A favorite place to go in St. Louis is the lovely Missouri Botanical Garden, which is celebrating its 150th anniversary this year. There are always many interesting things to do at the garden, from marveling at the working floral clock that is now in full bloom, to Dahlia shows (September 25-27) to book signing events.

Another good outing is a trip to the Missouri History Museum. In addition to the fixed and rotating exhibits, there are always fascinating films and lectures that cover everything from “Uncovering Ancient St. Louis” to “Human Rights in Haiti”. Lunch is available at the museum restaurant, and St. Louis has many excellent restaurants if you are interested in dining there. Feel free to ask the innkeepers for suggestions.
