In fact, you’ll fill hours without ever leaving the 300 block of South Main Street. Linger over drinks and dinner across the street at the Vine Wine Bar and Bistro. Learn how to create beautiful stained glass at The Glass Workbench. Pick up yarn and a pattern for your next knitting project at Knit and Caboodle. Or browse for books at Main Street Books, which has a great selection of books about the local area and its history.

There is usually an interesting event at Main Street Books on Saturday afternoons from 1 to 3 pm. All are welcome. The line up this month is as follows:

March 6 – Book signing with Laura Bradford, author of Sew Deadly and Kayla’s Daddy.

March 13 – Storyteller Mary Garret presents Frog and Friends and Courage and Wisdom.

March 20 – Book signing with Judy Moresi, author of Widow’s Walk.

March 27 – Book signing with Bill Mueller, author of Peaches and Cream, a collection of short stories.

We love the central location of our St. Charles MO inn, and think you will too. There is much to see and do in this area, and a good place to start exploring is right outside our front door.

A Historic St. Charles Valentine

Wednesday, February 3rd, 2010

Let us help you create a romantic retreat with your loved one. We are offering a 19th Century Valentine Romantic Interlude package at our historic St. Charles inn through February 20, 2010. Our goal? Happy couples.

It’s easy to imagine you are traveling back in time when you travel to historic St. Charles MO. Our inn is situated in the St. Charles National Historic District, where gas lights and stone and brick buildings from the 18th and 19th centuries line the streets. The sound of horse-drawn carriages making their way slowly down the brick streets will help set the mood.

The first clue that you’ve left the 21st century will be the note accompanying the bouquet of flowers in your room – written with a quill pen on hand-made paper and sealed with wax. Toast each other with champagne or mimosas before heading out on a carriage ride together. Wrapped in a blanket, you’ll warm yourself sipping hot chocolate and Bailey’s.

There are many excellent restaurants along historic Main Street, St. Charles, and please feel free to ask the innkeepers for recommendations if you feel overwhelmed by the selection.

When you return our St. Charles bed and breakfast, you’ll find chocolates and a bottle of red wine in your room. They are perhaps best consumed in your historic night attire: a 19th century sleeping shirt for him and a French Corset for her. You may want to bring your camera.

You mad add massages for two at our local spa, dinner for two across the street at The Vine, Tapas for two at our inn St. Charles, and a Colonial Spa Bath with wine and cheese.

If you feel you can’t return home without a Colonial Sleeping Shirt and Corset, they are available for purchase.

A Christmas Holiday with a French Twist

Monday, December 14th, 2009

What is it about the French? The food is sumptuous, the women are elegant, the men romantic. It’s no wonder Americans crave a little French influence in our lives from time to time.

Cheese, a la francaise

Let your time be now. We offer a French Colonial Christmas package at our St. Charles historic inn that will add touch of elegance and romance to your holidays.

St. Charles is particularly lovely at this time of year: the streets aglow with sparkling lights, the songs of carolers drifting on the breeze. That alone is enough to put visitors and locals in a cheerful mood.

During your stay in the French Colonial room of our St. Charles MO bed and breakfast you will be treated to French wine, a selection of fine cheeses accompanied with crusty French bread, and tasty French chocolates. Eventually you will leave your room in order to browse the many fine shops of downtown St. Charles, or enjoy a pre-arranged carriage ride; but once you return, you can look forward to sinking into a steaming bath filled with fragrant French bath salts.

In the morning, you will feel that you are in an elegant Parisian hotel as you enjoy a selection of French pastries and strong coffee in your room.

Treat yourselves to a French Christmas this year, without boarding a plane.

Romance the Stone at our Historic St. Charles Inn

Enjoy a taste of Spain with our Romancing the Stone Package

Enjoy a taste of Spain with our Romancing the Stone Package

It’s warm in St. Charles Missouri during the summer. In fact, sometimes it can be downright hot. The best thing to do when it is hot is to embrace the heat, and allow it to kindle romance. With this in mind, our historic St. Charles Missouri inn has created a “Romancing the Stone” special package.

Romancing the Stone will provide a bouquet of red roses in your room, along with a bottle of Rioja – Spanish red wine. Enjoy the wine before, after or during your Spanish Bath, drawn for you and infused with Spanish bath salts. When you are ready for it, a silver tray laden with breads, fruits and gourmet cheeses will be brought to your room, along with a selection of Spanish music to set the mood.

Three-foot thick stone walls dating from circa 1820 have been preserved in parts of the inn, which help create a very special ambiance and old world charm. It reminds us of old world Spain, and we invite you to experience it with Tapas for Two in the gourmet stone kitchen. Sip delicious Spanish wine as you sample appetizers, and then enjoy a ride on a horse drawn carriage through the Historic district. After that, the night is yours, and yours alone.

Surprise the person you love with a stay at our St. Charles bed and breakfast and the Romancing the Stone Package. It is the perfect way to say, “You are one of a kind, and I am so thankful you are with me.”

Girls’ Getaway at our Historic St. Charles Inn

Monday, July 27th, 2009

My girls... my rocks!! Your friends are important to you; they are there for you when you need them to make you laugh or listen to you cry. Let them know how much you appreciate them by planning a Girls Getaway with them at our historic St. Charles Missouri Inn.

Our “Girls, Girls, Girls” Package makes planning easy. Start with champagne, to toast each other and your decision to get away from all work and family obligations. Good for you for taking a little time for yourselves. In your room you’ll find flowers, chocolates and spa products from France and Spain; as you sample the products and taste the chocolates, decide whether you would rather have an hour massage or a facial and manicure.

After you are fully relaxed and beautified, dress for a night on the town. Historic St. Charles has a lovely ambiance as the sun sets, especially when experienced from a horse-drawn carriage. The clop of hooves on cobblestone streets will delight you, and you’ll find yourself ready for a night on the town; there are several fine restaurants quite close to our historic St. Charles bed and breakfast. When you return to your room, you’ll find a snack tray and recently released “chick flick” DVDs for your enjoyment.

Why wait? Plan something special with your friends soon.
